The Bainbridge Island Energy Challenge

Upon learning of the spikes in electricity demand during a few winter mornings, resulted in Puget Sound Energy's plan to add another power transmission substation on Bainbridge Island, Community Energy Solutions sees this as an opportunity to galvanize the community to re-consider how we think of energy, the way we use it and what our options are.

In April 2009, we played an instrumental role in the formation of Bainbridge Island Energy Challenge. By spurring the interest of many different organizations and individuals to come together, a three prong approach was adopted to address our energy issue. The initial steps towards peak load reduction will be through Puget Sound Energy's Demand Response Pilot. It will be followed by energy efficiency and renewable energy efforts.

Through the launch of Community Smart Power, Community Energy Solutions is bringing home energy audits to those who are interested in making their home more energy efficient. We intend to lower our carbon emissions, one home at a time.
