The Bainbridge Island Energy Challenge

In response to the energy challenges we face, a Community Energy Task Force (CETF) was organized by islanders on May 5, 2009. Membership is open to all, and includes the island’s electricity provider, Puget Sound Energy. At the first meeting, it was agreed that CETF will develop a Community Energy Plan, the implementation of which will be called the Bainbridge Island Energy Challenge. The intent is to achieve the following energy-related objectives for Bainbridge Island:
1. Increase the use of conservation and energy efficiency measures
2. Reduce the island’s peak load demand
3. Increase the island’s energy reliability
4. Reduce greenhouse gases emissions
5. Create local jobs
6. Educate the community as to how individual and collective actions make an impact, by way of objectives #1 through #5.

Until further notice, meetings of the CETF will be held every Thursday night, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Everyone is invited. The venue is the Eagle Harbor Congregational Church, at 105 Winslow Way West, Bainbridge Island, Washington.
