Are you interested in spending less on energy while making your home more comfortable? Would you like to know whether you should invest in a new heating system or simply add more insulation to your attic? Getting to the bottom of these questions can be tricky. An energy audit takes the guess work out, and helps you identify and prioritize where you should focus your attention.
Community Energy Solutions is proud to bring you an excellent opportunity to learn first hand about what is involved in an energy audit. Each audit will last for about two and a half hours. Space is limited, please rsvp at 206-261-5259 or e-mail us. Suggested donation is $10 per person.
This innovative community-based program allows others to watch a live energy audit and ask the professional auditors questions. The audits are done at people's homes where the homeowners have decided to get their homes evaluated by energy performance analysts and have graciously agreed to open their doors to allow anyone interested in learning more about home energy efficiency to visit.
To find out more abont how to make your home more comfortable and energy efficient, please check out our Community Smart Power Program and home energy audit.

4th Annual Kitsap County Solar Tour: All things green and solar
On October 3, 2009, many Kitsap residents took the opportunity to visit as many as 22 sites all over the County from Port Gamble to Port Orchard to learn how people are harnessing energy from the sun, increasing their home energy efficiency, and living with a lower carbon footprint. The event was part of the National Solar Tour, the largest renewable energy event in the United States. Of particular interest was the opportunity to watch a professional home energy audit take place at Hope House on Bainbridge Island. People could see first hand what can be found with a blower door test and a thermal imaging test. Other notable sites was the first LEED Platinum designed home in Washington outside of Seattle and a community solar energy project, at Sakai School on Bainbridge Island, where the tour kick-offed.
State Representative Christine Rolfes was present at the kick-off. She told the audience,
"The community has given the students at Sakai a great gift. The solar panels represent our creativity, our determination, and our vision of a hopeful transition to a renewable energy future. These solar panels are the gift of hope and opportunity, and with them we show the kids that our generation is doing our best to meet the challenges that we face."

Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County Groundbreaking Ceremony
On July 18, 2009, Saturday, a groudbreaking ceremoney was held at the future home site of Felicia Oliver-Johnson's family. A Suquamish Tribal elder, Marilyn Wandrey, gave a blessing for the young family; saying how so very important families are, and the communities that support them. We then all took turns at the shovel in a symbolic dig. All in all it was an auspicious start to a meaningful and important project.
