RENEWABLE ENERGY - BIOMASS
While it is important to switch out of fossil fuel based energy source to renewable, it is equally importamt not to compete with our food sources. Biomass resources that come from agricultural residues (corn stalks and wheat straw), wood residues (forest and mill wastes), urban residues (municipal solid waste and landfill methane) are good use of otherwise wasted resources. Washington State is extremely rich in biomass resource yet it plays a very limited role in electricity generation.
