Renewables for All

By providing renewable energy systems such as photovoltaics (solar electric) or solar hot water systems to families, we help them to afford to live in their homes. Our Renewables for All Program directly helps those who are most adversely affected by rising electricity and fuel prices. With clean and free energy from the sun, these families no longer have to choose between giving warm baths to their children, keeping their homes warm or paying for other necessities such as food, rent, or medicine.

We collaborate with Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County to “solarize” Habitat homes. This partnership not only helps raise awareness of social justice and the power of renewable energy, it directly benefits those who are in need.  Like housing, we believe that the benefits of affordable energy should be accessible for everyone.

Our inaugural project was completed in March 2010.  We installed a solar hot water system on a Habitat built home, benefiting a single-mom with three young children and two young siblings. With domestic hot water heating being the second highest energy expense after space heating in a household, using solar thermal systems for pre-heating domestic hot water goes a long ways towards helping to relieve some of the burdens of rising energy costs for many years, especially for those with limited incomes.

We are always looking for interested partners as well as volunteers to help us expand the Renewables for All Program. We believe that the benefits of affordable energy should be accessible for everyone. Contact us for more information.
